Mom & Pop Cleaning Service Administrative Application

Small immigrant-run cleaning companies are everywhere, and I often encounter them in my day-to-day life. Just like other cleaning companies, these smaller companies still need a way to manage their customers, document schedules, and manage their staff. But many of the current services on the market are often much more than they actual needs, do not offer support for native languages, or are too complex for their level of technical experience.

It is with this in mind that I set out to design a simple application, with a small roadmap for a product that would be specifically be designed to fit the needs of a small immigrant cleaning company.

Pain Points

Small housecleaning companies need a simple management tool in their native language.

01

Simplicty, Simplicty, Simplicity

This app is being designed with a range of technology skills in mind - from very low-skilled to moderately skilled - and therefore should have a simplistic design that is intuitive, easily utilized from a smart phone or table, and not burdensome to keep updated.

03

Customer Management

Business owners must have a way to document their customers' preferences for their cleanings, critical information about their customers, and document schedules. Many of the current applications are much more robust and often include a payment application, which is not always needed in the case of a small cleaning company.

02

Native Language Capablities

One of the main things that I noticed during my market research is that all the applications on the market are only supported in English. This could prove to be a potential barrier to use. It would be important for this application to support the same native language configuration set on the device.

04

Workforce Management

Many of the current applications on the market have this available as an add-on. I wanted to make a limited version available as part of the app's roadmap for the future.

Concept Images

Here's what I learned:

During this project, I learned a lot about Figma, and how to use it to better convey what I'm trying to get across in my designs and my product write-ups. I feel that the final product write-up and the first draft that I did are miles apart! I took what I learned and applied it to my passion project: Health Harmony

Additionally, I took the time to work on this with another person; I partnered up with a UX designer and researcher I know who helped me fill in some of the pieces that were missing in my original concept design. It was super helpful to have someone to bounce ideas off of, someone who helped me validate a few of the workflows, and someone who could help me research potential solutions.
